Cryptocurrency is a digital or virtual crypto currency blog source that uses cryptography for security. Unlike traditional currencies, which are issued by a central authority (a government for instance) cryptocurrencies are based on decentralized networks that anybody can contribute to through the application of further blockchain-based technology. Bitcoin, invented in 2009, was the first cryptocurrency and is still its best known. Since then, thousands of other cryptocurrencies like Ethereum, Ripple, and Litecoin have sprung up. The benefits of cryptocurrencies are lower transaction costs, quicker cross-border transactions, and supportive financial inclusion. But they also carry risks, including price volatility, regulatory uncertainty and the potential use for illegal activity. Through Blockchain, which is the underlying technology, transparency and security are guaranteed through a public ledger in which all transactions are recorded. Although they continue to increase in popularity, cryptocurrencies are still hindered from bestselling by design issues surrounding scalability, energy consumption, and regulatory challenges. With the rise of the digital age, we can expect to see an even greater influence from cryptocurrencies on a global economic scale.

ارزهای دیجیتال یا رمزارز، نوع دیگری از پول مجازی یا دیجیتالی است که از رمزنگاری برای امنیت و حفظ مبادلات استفاده می کند. این پول‌ها بر خلاف پول‌های سنتی دولت‌ها جهان می‌باشند و بر پایه شبکه‌های غیرمتمرکز و فناوری بلاک‌چین کار می‌کنند. بیت‌کوین که در سال ۲۰۰۹ ابداع شد، اولین رمزارز بود و همچنان معروف‌ترین رمزارز است. از آن وقت بسیاری اصل و جویز های دیگری همچوناتریوم، ریپل، لایت‌کوینو غیره بر پایه این ابداع ایجاد می‌شوند. این رمزارزها هزینه‌های کم‌تری را با کارمزد تراکنش کمتر، امکان انتقال سریع‌تر بین‌المللی و مشارکت مالی بیشتر فراهم می‌کنند. اما با ریسک‌هایی همچون نوسانات قیمت، بی‌قطعیت‌های نظارتی و استفاده احتمالی برای فعالیت‌های غیرقانونی همراه می‌باشند. فناوری بلاک‌چین به دلیل ثبت کردن تمام تراکنش‌ها در یک دفتر رکورد عمومی، شفافیت و امنیت بیش‌تری را فراهم آورده است. هر چه دنیا دیجیتالی‌تر شده، ارزهای دیجیتال احتمالاً نقش مهمتری در اقتصاد جهانی خواهند داشت.
